Obesity rate may hit 42% by 2030 (I think we are already there)
Green Car Reports May 3, 2012
“It's not just cars that are getting bigger and heavier--a quick look around the local mall is enough to see that the average person on the street is more portly than their counterpart from a generation ago.
Every year, obesity costs the country huge amounts of money, from $190 billion in extra medical costs, to over $1,000 per special toilet needed to cope with people weighing 700 pounds.”
According to MSNBC, it also means a huge amount of wasted fuel! Due to an increase in passenger weights, airlines are spending more than $5 billion more in jet fuel than in the 1960’s. Also, tack on an extra an $4 billion in gasoline to operate cars. Yes, it takes extra energy to move obese people around in cars and to get them up in the air!

Obesity is the result of eating the wrong food and/or massive quantities of food. Who doesn't like pizza, ice cream, etc.? However, those of us who cherish our health and don’t want to be a burden to our families or society, skip our cravings. The next time you are on a plane with an oversized passenger seated next to you with their bag of fast food, pass them a celery stick.
